Lists of Sailors by City of Enlistment

The CSVC project is pleased to make available lists of the sailors for each of the Naval Reserve Divisions across the country, listed by City. These lists are constantly being updated as new information is uncovered during the research process. Contact the project team if you need up-to-the-minute data.

More information for each sailor is available than can be displayed in these lists, and more details are added every day. Click on Sailors’ Stories in the menu above for completed stories or send an email to the project team for more information.

The list called ‘RCNR Sailors’ provides details of the professional mariners who enlisted at Esquimalt or Halifax, but whose hometowns were elsewhere in Canada. Later in the war, they would have enlisted at the RCNVR Division in their hometown, but at the time of their enlistment the local NRDs could not accept their applications. The project team has assigned these sailors to cities, and they may therefore also appear on a city list. NRDs may wish to adopt one or more of these ‘local’ mariners for commemoration, and if so, the project team should be informed.
